Each natural Akoya pearl is carefully dyed by an indigo artisan, one pearl at a time.

The pearl is repeatedly immersed in indigo, exposed to air, and allowed to oxidize. This meticulous process is repeated 90 to 120 times, gradually building layer upon layer of color.

The result is not a uniform blue, but a spectrum of depth and nuance—deep indigo, delicate blue, and subtle shadows.

The natural, gentle luster of the Akoya pearl remains visible beneath the indigo, creating the distinctive depth and character of BLUE PEARL.

Once dyed, each pearl is individually finished with a transparent coating by skilled artisans in Okayama.

By sealing the depth of the indigo and its subtle luster beneath a clear layer, the pearl takes on an appearance reminiscent of an “indigo crystal.”

The natural shape and luster of each Akoya pearl combine with the unique variations created by traditional indigo dyeing.

As a result, no two BLUE PEARLs are ever exactly alike.

Depending on the light, the pearl may appear as a deep, intense indigo or reveal a brighter, more translucent blue.

These subtle variations are not imperfections. They are the beauty created by natural materials and an artisanal dyeing process.

18K White Gold — A Quiet, Refined Brilliance

Two 18K white gold cut beads are placed beside the deep indigo pearl.

Their finely faceted surfaces catch the light from different angles, creating a delicate, chandelier-like sparkle.

Concept

BLUE PEARL | AIDAMA brings together traditional Japanese indigo dyeing and the refined presence of Akoya pearl craftsmanship.

Each pearl absorbs indigo in its own way. The color, depth, and pattern cannot be fully controlled, which gives every AIDAMA its own quiet character.

Authentic Indigo Dyeing

The indigo dyeing process used for AIDAMA requires time, skill, and careful attention to the condition of the dye.

Because each piece is dyed over time and adjusted individually, production remains small in scale.

The number available may vary depending on the condition of the indigo, the season, and the characteristics of each pearl.

Craftsmanship

ASHIROGANE was created through collaboration between Okayama-based denim artist Toshiki Aoki and skilled Akoya pearl craftsmen.

Each pearl carries the time, patience, and care of the artisans involved. The result is a single piece of jewelry with subtle variation, quiet depth, and a presence unique to natural materials.
